Data Retention and Disposal Policy
Effective: June 28, 2026 · Reviewed at least annually
1. Purpose
This policy defines how DoorWorth, a product of JMIE Investments LLC, retains and disposes of consumer data — including data obtained through Plaid — in a manner consistent with applicable data-privacy laws.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all consumer data collected or processed by the DoorWorth application: account information, user-entered property and financial data, and bank transaction data and access tokens obtained via Plaid.
3. Retention
- Active accounts: consumer data is retained for as long as the user maintains an active account, as needed to provide the service.
- Bank access tokens (Plaid): retained only while the corresponding bank connection is active. They are stored server-side, encrypted, and are inaccessible to client applications.
- We do not retain bank login credentials at any time — they are never collected.
- We do not collect or retain Social Security Numbers.
4. Disposal & Deletion
- When a user disconnects a linked bank, the associated Plaid access token is deleted and the connection revoked.
- Upon a verified account-deletion request (doorworthapp@gmail.com) or account closure, we delete the user's personal and financial data within 30 days, except where a longer retention period is required by law.
- Deletion is performed from production data stores; backups are overwritten on their normal rotation cycle.
- Executed lease agreements: once a lease is fully signed by all parties through DoorWorth's e-signing feature, the signed document and its signing record are retained beyond the 30-day window above so the other party to that lease keeps a valid copy. An account-deletion request removes the requesting party's own contact email from that record; the name and signature on the executed document are retained, as a signed lease cannot be altered after the fact without compromising the record's integrity for every party who relied on it.
4a. Rental applicants
- Submitted applications: an application submitted through a landlord's DoorWorth apply link is stored on our server only until the landlord's app has imported it into their own records, and is deleted 30 days after that import. The landlord's copy is part of the landlord's data and follows the rules above.
- Application groups (roommates / co-signers): the server keeps only the group's membership and status — never any applicant's answers — and deletes it 90 days after the group was started, or immediately when the landlord's account is deleted.
- We do not collect Social Security Numbers on the application form; an answer that looks like one is refused before it is stored.
- Applicants may request deletion of their application at any time (doorworthapp@gmail.com).
5. Compliance & Review
This policy is designed to comply with applicable U.S. data-privacy laws. It is reviewed at least annually and updated as our practices or legal obligations change.
